Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy is intended to illustrate the types and categories of cookies, as well as the purposes and methods of cookie usage by this Website. To modify cookie settings, the user may follow the instructions provided in this Cookie Policy. Alternatively, the user may express their consent to the use of cookies by continuing to browse the Website—specifically by scrolling, clicking on internal links within the Website pages, or by clicking the "OK" button in the brief information banner visible (at the bottom) upon first accessing the Website, as provided for by the provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority (No. 229 of May 8, 2014).

What are cookies?

Cookies consist of portions of code (computer files or partial data) sent from a server to the user’s Internet browser, automatically stored by said browser on the user's computer, and automatically sent back to the server at every occurrence or subsequent access to the site. Usually, a cookie contains the name of the website from which it originates, the lifespan of the cookie (i.e., how long it will remain on the user's device), and a value, which is typically a randomly generated unique number. At each subsequent visit, cookies are sent back to the website that originated them (first-party cookies) or to another site that recognizes them (third-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize the user’s device and serve various purposes such as, for example, allowing efficient navigation between pages, remembering favorite sites, and generally improving the browsing experience. They also help ensure that advertising content displayed online is more targeted to a user and their interests.

If the user decides to disable cookies, this may influence and/or limit their browsing experience within the Sites; for example, they might not be able to visit certain sections of a Site or might not receive personalized information when visiting the Sites.

How do cookies work and how can they be deleted?

The methods of operation, as well as the options for limiting or blocking cookies, can be adjusted by changing the settings of your internet browser. Most internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically; however, the user can change these settings to block cookies or to be warned whenever cookies are sent to their device. There are several ways to manage cookies; please refer to the instruction manual or the help screen of your browser to check how to adjust or change its settings. Indeed, the user is enabled to modify the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e., block them permanently) by setting the highest level of protection.

As an example, below are the procedures for cookie policy settings on the most common browsers:

If the user uses different devices to view and access the Site (for example, computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.), they must ensure that each browser on each device is adjusted to reflect their cookie preferences. To delete cookies from the Internet browser of your smartphone/tablet, it is necessary to refer to the device's user manual.

What types and categories of cookies exist?

The Site uses cookies to compile anonymous aggregate statistics that allow for an understanding of how users use the Site and to improve its structure and content. Below is an explanatory list:

Technical Cookies

"Technical" cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the Site and allow users to browse and exploit its features (for example, they allow the storage of previous actions or allow the saving of the user's session and/or the performance of other activities strictly necessary for the operation of the Site). This category also includes "analytical" cookies, which indicate how users interact with the Site by providing information regarding the last page visited, the number of sections and pages visited, the time spent on the Site, and any events emerged during navigation, such as an error message, helping to understand any difficulty the user encounters in using the Site. This information may be associated with user details such as browser or geographical origin; however, it is analyzed together with information from other users so as not to identify one specific user over another. These cookies are collected and aggregated anonymously to improve the performance of the Site itself. Finally, "functionality" cookies allow the Site to remember user choices (for example, the username) to provide the latter with a more personalized and optimized navigation. Functional cookies are not indispensable for the operation of the Site but improve its quality and the browsing experience. If these cookies are not accepted, the performance and functionality of the Site may be lower, and access to content may be limited.

Profiling Cookies

"Targeting" or "profiling" cookies are used to present content more suited to the user and their interests. They can be used to display targeted advertisements, to publish personalized advertisements based on the user's interests, or to limit the number of times the user views an advertisement. Furthermore, they help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on the Site; this site currently DOES NOT directly use these cookies.

"Sharing" (or social network) cookies are necessary to allow the user to interact with the Site through their social account and serve, for example, to express appreciation and share it with related social contacts.

This site uses or may use, also in combination with each other, cookies that are:

Third-Party Cookies

When a user uses the Site, it is possible that some cookies controlled by third parties may be stored. This happens, for example, if the user visits a page that contains content from a third-party website. Consequently, the user will receive cookies from these third-party services. The site has no control over the information provided by these cookies and has no access to such data. This information is totally controlled by the third-party companies as described in their respective privacy policies.

Third-party cookies fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the third-party operator and are divided into the following macro-categories:
